About Kate...

Kate Upcraft FIPP AMBCS A highly motivated and determined self-starter with an impressive record as a lobbyist on payroll and employment issues. Kate’s strong verbal and written communication skills are aligned to an open and engaging style combined with high standards in delivery. Kate is a renowned conference speaker and writer with honed networking skills developed with government and industry figures.

Until autumn 2005 Kate was the Policy & Research Manager at the Institute of Payroll Professionals. In that role she was the Technical Editor of the Institute’s member magazine and was their chief lobbyist, representing them on many government consultative groups.

Kate has now set-up her own company and is a regular conference speaker, trainer and writer on legislative issues, including tax and National Insurance, benefits and the whole range of employer compliance responsibilities. She is also a founder of TAKeUP Payroll Mentoring offering mentoring support to payroll professionals.

In early 2003 Kate was the Payroll Legislation Manager at M&S, for whom she worked for 21 years, twelve of them within the payroll function.Kate graduated with the IPP Diploma in Payroll Management in 1995, was made an Honorary Fellow of the Institute in 2005 and was awarded the Strathearn Award for Lifetime Achievement in the 2005 PAY Magazine awards. She was voted one of the Payroll Top 50 in Payroll World magazine in 2009.
